Removing ink stains from clothing
It can just happen to you, an ink stain on your clothes. For example, if you keep a ballpoint pen in the breast pocket of your shirt, it may leak and cause a stain. There are different ways to remove ink from clothing. We'll give you some explanations and a few tips on how to get rid of these stains as quickly as possible.
The most important thing when removing ink stains from your clothes is to be quick about it. Once the ink has attached itself to the fabric, it is much harder to remove. Press a piece of kitchen paper on the ink stain as quickly as possible and let it absorb as much of the ink as possible. It is very important that you do not rub over the stain, as this will make it larger.
How to remove ink stains from your clothes?
After washing, an ink stain will not always disappear from your clothes, which is why you need to use special cleaning techniques. There are different ways to remove ink stains from your clothes. Below we provide a few examples:
- Dip a sponge or cloth in disinfecting alcohol and dab it on the stain, then rinse the fabric with water and let it dry. If you repeat this process a few times the stain will disappear.
- Spray a lot of hairspray on the stain and dab it clean with a dry sponge. Repeat this until the stain disappears.
- Let your garment lie in (butter-)milk for half an hour. After this you can wash the garment according to the normal washing program.
- You can also choose to wash the garment in the water.
- You can also choose to use special detergents developed for removing ink stains.
If after this there is still an ink stain, you can remove it with spirit for dark fabrics or with lemon juice for light fabrics.
Please be careful! Be careful with strong detergents like methylated spirits and cleaning alcohol. Use a small amount first to see if it will affect the color of the garment.
