What is GOTS?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an international certification focused on increasing transparency throughout the entire textile supply chain, from cotton seed to clothing store. In addition to environmental and animal welfare concerns, human rights are also central to this certification. This includes fair wages and safe working conditions for cotton farmers, textile workers, and even store employees.
Is GOTS Animal-Friendly?
Yes, GOTS focuses on growing organic cotton. This goes hand in hand with maintaining soil fertility and monitoring the impact on the surrounding environment. Furthermore, genetic modification of seeds, synthetic fertilizers, and harmful chemicals like pesticides and herbicides are explicitly banned. If a garment contains animal fibers, they must be ethically sourced, in line with international standards.

How is Compliance with GOTS Ensured?
Suitable has demonstrated compliance with all the requirements through an independent audit by Control Union. This organization is responsible for the annual audits that will take place.
