Over the years in particular, flat caps suddenly took off. During the 18th and 19th century, the flat cap was standard to wear in England and Ireland during this period. The trend spread across several European countries, even as far as the US.
The flat cap was widely worn in the 20th century, particularly in Europe. The ‘hipster' has reintroduced the iconic flat cap. This is also partly thanks to the popular Netflix series Peaky Blinders, in which the flat cap is an important accessory. Because of the series, the popularity of the flat cap has risen by 85%.
