A website that is secured with SSL has two characteristics:
- With SSL security the identity of the website is guaranteed.
- SSL is intended to create a secure connection. This means that the information that goes back and forth between your PC (desktop, tablet or mobile phone) and the website cannot be read or edited by others, because it is encrypted.
A secure connection can be recognized by the websites address, this should start with https://. There should also be a lock at the bottom of the page, or next to the address bar.
