Practical details
First of all, the most practical aspect of the men's shoe: it has no laces. In short, you simply slip into it, without any hassle of tying knots. That has, needless to say, its advantages when you want to slip out of them again quickly and without fuss ;-). This aspect immediately gives the loafer its Italian flair: a loafer is stylish and casual at the same time. Because it's an unconventional shoe, it gives the impression that you're keeping up with style and trends, but at the same time it is in fact mainly practical.
Endless styling options with loafers
Now the next, very important aspect: loafers go with almost everything. A loafer looks great with a stylish suit, but is also recommended with a tough pair of jeans with rolled-up legs. Even with shorts it looks great. By combining it in the way that suits you, you have a distinctive shoe that at the same time fits you very well. In addition, you can very well choose to wear it with or without socks, which gives you a completely different look.
Well-known loafer lovers
Who doesn't know him: the timeless and always cool Paul Newman wore moccasins with a classic outfit, giving him a casual finish.
But the most famous is surely Michael Jackson. He often wore moccasins while dancing, which just goes to show how comfortable and practical they are, while the shoes cleverly complete his outfit at the same time. This, combined with the characteristic white socks in them that were so typical of him — unfortunately not all of us can get away with that ;-).
And what about Steve McQueen? He wears them in a fairly sober outfit, with grey woollen socks, which is precisely why the loafers gave his outfit a touch of nonchalance.

Now, thanks to the weather here, us down-to-earth Dutch can't wear loafers to work every day, but in summer in particular you should really give it a try. Well, you don't have to of course, but it's really recommended!
